We all know our bodies need calcium, here’s an easy DIY calcium supplement made from the eggshells you normally toss away! Calcium supports strong bones and heart, muscle and nerve function. Egg shells contain calcium and protein as well as minerals including magnesium and selenium.Makes a big batch for months! Serving size 1/2 tsp per day for around 1000mg
Ingredients
- Eggshells, keep the eggshells you normally toss away (in a week I use a carton)
1. Wash eggshells before using them for normal use and save the shell
2. Once you’ve collected them (I recommend a carton full to make a big long last batch!)
3. Place shells in a pot and add enough water to fully cover the shells
4. Cook on high heat for at least 10 minutes to kill any bacteria
5. Use a strainer to drain the egg shells
6. Place on lined baking tray and bake for 30 minutes at 90 C
7. Once dried place in blender/food processor or use a coffee grinder to turn it into a fine powder
8. Store in an airtight jar
9. Use 1/2tsp per day in your smoothies etc (I just eat, tastes like nothing!) for 1000mg of calcium
Enjoy!
